Description
Olive oil is sometimes described as liquid gold. Since ancient times olive oil has played an important role in the nutrition of mankind. Hippokrates as well as other historic physicians believed already in the beneficial effects of olive oil on health and recommended it for curing various illnesses. Nowadays, many centuries later, olive oil continues to be an essential ingredient in our nutrition and has proven to be good for our health and for achieving a long life span.
This particular historic olive press is situated in the middle of the olive fields at the Gulf of Gera on Lesvos island, Greece, which is world famous for its olive plantations.

Sure, Bill, you get any permission from me you need :) ... it makes me a bit proud that my photo inspires such a highly talented painter as you are! I wish you much inspiration and fun with the landscape you are currently working on. And many thanks for your encouraging words! Best wishes, Andreas :)

I like the way you look into life; not just bumping off things and moving on. Stopping, looking, thinking. "The Olive Press" is just one of your many wonders ( currently I'm working on a large landscape, in which I've placed an old stone building -- looking at the wall in The Olive Garden tells me I've put too much violet in it -- so, I've decided to copy your wall -- with your permission of course).
